Product Description
Change is the new status quo in today’s business world. New smart, lean and more efficient methods for increasing a company’s market share and top line have been created, and the adoption of their methods and practices will be the differentiator between growth or failure in this new business environment. In Vested Outsourcing, supply-chain innovator and lead researcher Kate Vitasek has created a new business model that will transform outsourcing procedures the way business management strategies Six Sigma and Lean improved production processes in the 1980s and 90s. Based on a research study by the University of Tennessee with the United States Air force, Vitasek has identified the top 10 critical (and often invisible) flaws inherent in almost all outsourced business relationships. She then shows organizations how to reinvent their outsourcing relationships to ignite innovation, improve service, lower costs and increase profit. www.vestedoutsourcing.com

Vested Outsourcing February 15, 2010 Clifford F. Lynch (Memphis, TN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Outsourcing is not a new concept by any means, but this book has the potential to change the entire outsourcing landscape dramatically. This new concept is explained and documented very well in the book, and is a must have for the supply chain manager.
Vested Outsourcing - The New Business Model February 19, 2010 Krishnan R (Singapore/Dubai) Vested Outsourcing is an extremely potent new Business Model that calls for a paradigm shift in the traditional model of Outsourcing. Kate Vitasek and her team are absolutely impeccable in detailing the structure, frameworks and intricacies upon which VO is built. This book will pretty much be the Bible of Vested Outsourcing as was 'Toyota Way' by Jeffrey Liker for Lean Principles to the entire world. Vested Outsourcing will really help Outsourcing Companies in India and Asia per se in achieving the true potential. Having been in a US30$ Billion Information Technology Company in India, who also are into Outsourcing, I can vouch that adoption of Vested Outsourcing will bring in radical changes in efficacy and result in higher yields and outcomes- both Financial and Non-Financial, in the Outsourcing Partnerships between the West & the East.
This book is structured logically in three phases or parts - first, wherein the need for re-thinking the traditional outsourcing models, its evolution, problems and reasons companies fail to achieve success with traditional outsourcing are dealt with- Kate hits the nail of its head by pinpointing in a very simple and elegant manner each of the common ailments companies face.
In the second section, the principles and the five rules of Vested Outsourcing are delved in-depth. Behavioral Economics, Innovations and their vitality to VO are immaculately covered from a business world perspective. The third section deals with the implementation aspects of VO- laying the foundation between business entities, identifying the KPIs and Metrics, transitioning the existing business to VO and sustaining the success from the new model.
One of key factor of this book that is very impressive, consistent and seamless through the entire book is the importance given to figures and graphical representation of frameworks, matrix, and roadmap. Be it payoff matrix, Quantitative Assessment examples, Risk comparison or TCO, through this user-friendly depiction, Kate has immaculately transformed some of the relatively complex concepts into extremely easy-to comprehend and implementable models.
Vested Outsourcing is a MUST-HAVE for Companies who outsource and yet are to achieve optimal results or those are looking at Outsourcing, Supply Chain Managers, Logistics Professionals, Management Consultants, Educators, Trainers and anyone who is Outsourcing Business.
This is the game changer we've been waiting for February 25, 2010 Rhonda Linginfelter (Nashville, TN USA) As someone who has worked in the BPO industry for over a decade, I have finally found "the Holy Grail" by which I will measure value in outsourcing agreements- truly a breakthrough publication, one that will be dog-eared and marked up within my easy reach each business day. If you outsource business or if work in a service organization trying to be a true "partner" to your clients- this is your required reading.
Vested Outsourcing is well written and provides concise guidance for developing game changing partnerships- those that provide real value in a win-win for all parties. Don't be fooled into thinking this is a new spin on "gain-sharing". You will likely immediately see yourself or your company in Chapter 3's "Ten Ailments of Traditional Outsource Relationships". The good news is that there is a way to solve these age-old ailments, and this book is a great place to begin.
Kate Vitasek, thank you for your book and the great contribution to the Outsourcing discipline. I'm looking forward to the day when persons sitting on either side of outsourcing deals are willing to change places and feel just as good about it.
Vested Outsourcing March 3, 2010 Andy Smith (Kenco Logistic Services, Chattanooga TN) As a 3PL I found the book to be informative, easy to understand and will serve as a template to move our relationships to the next level of true vested outsourcing. I was able to following the concepts and understand how to use the process steps to improve my partnerships. The 10 ailments and 5 rules provide guidance and insight as a "how to" for improving your outsourcing partnerships. The concept of win-win relationships is still the exception in this industry; this book provides the framework to move the relationships to the next level. I look forward to the improved results this book will give our organization.
A book that will trully transform how you outsource now and in the future March 16, 2010 Richard Maclaren (Unipart North America, New Jersey, USA) Vested outsourcing is a game changing approach and will transform how you do and will do business. If you are looking for a long term outsource relationship/partnership then look no further as this a must read.....
